The highly anticipated Insecure 10th anniversary tour has been canceled. Issa Rae and the show's core cast delivered the news Tuesday, September 1, in a video posted to Instagram, citing scheduling conflicts that made a full run impossible. The 13-date, multi-city tour had been announced back in July, billed as a cross-country celebration marking a decade since the beloved HBO comedy premiered, and tickets had been moving on the strength of a rare cast reunion.
Rae was joined in the clip by Insecure alums Yvonne Orji, Jay Ellis and Natasha Rothwell, along with showrunner Prentice Penny. Together they broke the news to fans who had been counting down to the reunion since it was announced.
Why the Tour Fell Through
The reason, by the group's own account, is a good problem to have: everyone is booked and busy. In the years since the show wrapped, its stars and creators have stayed in demand across film and television, and lining up a 13-date run across multiple cities meant getting all of those schedules to match at once. They could not.
Rae made clear the cast did not want to move forward with anything less than the full lineup.
"Unfortunately, our schedules got messed up, and we are so sorry, but we only wanted to do this if we all could be there and give you the best experience possible," Rae said.
One Show Is Still Happening
Fans are not walking away empty-handed. The group confirmed it will still hold a single 10th anniversary show in Inglewood, where the story began, on October 8. Rae thanked fans for still wanting to celebrate the series and pointed them to that one night instead of the full trek.
Insecure grew out of Rae's web series The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl, before she developed it for HBO with Larry Wilmore. It ran for five seasons from 2016 to 2021, earned a string of Emmy and Golden Globe nominations, and turned Rae into a household name while helping launch Orji, Ellis and Rothwell. A decade after it began, the affection for it clearly has not cooled.
The Inglewood celebration is set for October 8.
