Oh, the ‘90s! The era that produced some of the best sitcoms in the history of television. One of them, Sister, Sister made household names out of Tia and Tamera Mowry. Their hit show, which lasted from 1994-1999, followed the lives of two long-lost twins who reunite as teenagers. The cast of Sister, Sister also included Jackee Harry (Tia’s adoptive mother Lisa), Tim Reid (Tamera’s adoptive father Ray), and Marques Houston (their next-door neighbor, Roger).
As the show grew, familiar faces were invited to play smaller roles. Some were already famous then, while others established their acting careers years later.
TARAJI P. HENSON
Before her breakthrough role in Baby Boy, Taraji P Henson played a small role of a girl named Briana in one of the episodes in season 5.
CHRISTINA MILIAN
Christina Milian‘s appearance in Sister, Sister marked her official television debut. She guest-starred on the show as Lana in two episodes – “Kid-Napped,” and “When a Man Loves Two Women.”
DAPHNE REID
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’s Aunt Viv guest-starred as Ray’s potential love interest Charmagne. Did you know that the two were married in real life?
BIANCA LAWSON
Bianca Lawson appeared in multiple episodes of Sister, Sister as Rhonda Coley. The star will contimue to play teenagers on TV for many more years after that.
ORLANDO BROWN
Before his recurring role in Family Matters andThat’s So Raven, Brown made an appearance in episode 13 of season 4. The child star played Clayton, a 9-year-old boy, mistakenly set up on a date with Tamera.
KOBE BRYANT
One of the biggest cameos on the show was Kobe Bryant, starring as himself.
DONALD FAISON
Donald Faison appeared in the episode titled “Greek To Me”. The Clueless and Scrubs star played the president of a fraternity that was being investigated by Tamera’s boyfriend, Jordan.
GABRIELLE UNION
The Being Mary Jane star made several appearances on the show in seasons 4 and 5, playing two different characters – Shawn and Vanessa.
KENAN THOMPSON & KEL MITCHELL
Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell guest-starred in one of Season 4 episodes titled “Inherit the Twin”. The 90s comedic duo played Tia and Tamera’s lawyers in student court.
KYLA PRATT
Before becoming the lead voice of The Proud Family, Kyle Pratt had a small role on the show – she appeared in Tia’s subconscious while the twin was deciding on a summer internship with the WNBA.
RUPAUL
RuPaul made a notable appearance in one of the earlier episodes of season 2. The Drag Race host played a boutique owner named Marje in an episode titled “Put to the Test.”
SHERMAN HEMSLEY
Sherman Hemsley made multiple appearances on the show between seasons 3 and 5. The Jeffersons star played Ray’s cunning but loving dad, Tia and Tamera’s grandfather.
MARY KATE & ASHLEY OLSEN
Tia and Tamera are pitted against twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen on a TV quiz show in an episode called “Slime Party”.
TAHJ MOWRY
Tia and Tamera Mowry’s real-life younger brother Tahj Mowry guest-starred as three different characters in three different episodes.
FLEX ALEXANDER
Flex Alexander guest-starred in one of the sitcom’s earlier episodes. The One on One star played the rapper Cold Dog – Tia and Tamera’s celebrity crush until they met him in real life.
