Taraji P. Henson has marked a new career milestone today when she was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The Oscar-nominated actress is known for starring in The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button, Hidden Figures, Acrimony, Proud Mary, and TV drama Empire. Her new comedy What Men Want will premiere in theaters on February 8.

Receiving a star is a special honor, Henson says.

It means I’ve been doing something important in Hollywood. For me, it’s important because my son, my mom, my grandmother, who is still alive and is 94, will be there.

R&B singer Mary J. Blige and director John Singleton also came out to support the honoree.

Blige appeared with Henson in Tyler Perry’s comedy-drama I Can Do Bad All by Myself back in 2009.

Singleton directed Henson in the 2001 film Baby Boy, then in the crime drama Four Brothers and, later, in a 2015 episode of Empire. He was also among the producers of Hustle & Flow

Taraji P. Henson’s star can be found at 6200 Hollywood Blvd., it is located on the same block, although on the opposite side of the street, from Mary J. Blige’s star.
