Tisha Campbell is stepping into multiple roles with Lifetime's One Last Shot, an original movie she wrote, stars in, and executive produces.
This is Campbell taking control of the whole story, not just performing it. She co-wrote the script with Dani Wright, and Erica Sutherlin directs, with Fox Entertainment Studios producing.
What 'One Last Shot' Is About
Campbell plays Joy Walker, a devoted single mother who has spent her whole life taking care of everyone but herself, from her church to her community to her teenage son, Chaz, a rising basketball phenom. Then tragedy hits. Chaz is suddenly diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumor, and Joy is forced to battle doctors, tackle mounting bills, and reluctantly join forces with her ex, Royce, to navigate a new normal none of them saw coming.
Charles Malik Whitfield plays Royce, with Jaden Lucas Miller as Chaz. It is the kind of grounded family drama that has become Lifetime's bread and butter, and Campbell wrote herself a role with real weight.
A 'House Party' Reunion
The casting comes with a treat for longtime fans. One Last Shot reunites Campbell with AJ Johnson, marking the first time the two have worked together professionally since the 1990 comedy classic House Party. That film helped launch both of them, so putting them back on screen more than three decades later carries its own quiet full-circle energy.
Campbell has kept steadily busy across film and television for years, earning that Image Award and a loyal following along the way, but One Last Shot puts her in charge of the material in a way her fans have not seen much before. She is not just the star of this one. She wrote it, she produced it, and she built it from the ground up.
One Last Shot premieres Saturday, November 14 at 8/7c as part of the network's 2026 Love of a Lifetime slate.
