On August 27, Chris Robinson, who directed the 2006 original classic, has unveiled the teaser for the possible sequel of ATL via his Instagram page.
Robinson’s caption read, “HEY [Chance the Rapper]. WHAT IF…….. WE DID IT ONE MORE TIME.” This appears to be a response to Chance The Rapper, who posted a few days earlier, “I believe ATL is a movie that never truly got its flowers. It’s probably the most quotable movie from my childhood.”
The 50-second clip showed most of the original cast, including T.I., Lauren London, Jackie Long, Jason Weaver, Albert Daniels, Evan Ross, and Khadijah Haqq.
ATL was loosely based on the real-life experiences of film producers Dallas Austin (Drumline) and Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins (Belly), who grew up in Atlanta. The original movie made over $20 million at the box office and won multiple awards.
